Embroidery and thrifting...

 Evening lovely people :0)

Hope you're all having a fabby weekend.
I can't believe over a weeks gone by since my last blog post! Where does the time go?

I've been busy though.
This morning, I was lucky enough to get a little thrifting in :0)

So all during this afternoon, I've been having a tussle with blogger, and putting one photo on at a time so that I could get this post written this evening, to show you a couple of my little finds.

First I found this gorgeous hand embroidered table cloth. It's absolutely beautiful..

The amount of hours this must have taken to embroider!
The whole cloth measures approx. 3ft by 3ft.

It has a couple of very tiny stains on it, but otherwise, it's in fabulous condition, and the pastel colours are so vibrant.
I haven't found a piece of embroidery that I like so much in ages...
But saying that, i may still pop it in my shop, I'm undecided as of yet.

Next up I found a banana stand (I think lol )
It was only 50p.

It's got that lovely crackle glaze all over it, which I really like on some things.

I got these 4 sets of cup/saucer/sideplate.
They're Royal Doulton 'Reflections'.
They only cost 40p for the WHOLE four sets!

We need a new address book. This one was only £1.00.

It's got beautiful floral prints running all the way through it.
It's so pretty.

Four miniture bottles for £1.

And travel Scrabble for when my daughter goes into hospital.

I've been busy crocheting this week too.
I've had to running hats to make..
These I crochet in plain trebles, with 'go faster' stripes round the bottom :0)

Then i've been crocheting bunting.
This is it 'blocking' on my ironing board lol.
(This is a good excuse for not doing the ironing, as obviously I can't remove the crochet till it's done :0)

Notice the extra amount of photos?
Well, thankyou all for your advice about blogger. I've been putting them on one at a time, then going away and doing something else, coming back, signing in, and doing it all again !

I'm a bit stressed at the moment. My eldest goes into hospital on 8th February.
This is so they can add an extra drug to her current drug for Epilepsy. This 'll be her 14th drug!
She's having a very bad time with her seizures at the moment.
Hopefully this may make some difference. We have to do it in hospital, as if you don't get the new drug mixed with the old drug properly, she may get toxic poisoning.
So we've got a 2 night stay in hospital.

So if I don't post between now and next Tuesday, you know why and where I am.
Wish us luck if I don't speak to you before  :0)

Take care everyone.
And all you lovely bloggers here and in the USA with all that snow, wrap up warm!

Take it easy.

TV crochet....

During the day, when I'm pottering about, I borrow my sons portable dvd player to put on in the kitchen.

At the moment, the ones I'm watching are, urm.... The Little House on the Prairie.

As a kid, I LOVED those programmes.
Unfortunately, as an adult I still do..  LOL

But now I can look at them in detail, as opposed to just the story lines...

I love all the crochet, knitting, sewing and quilts that are on there..

I thought these crochet hats were so cute, I just had to put them on here...

Dodgy pictures I know, but you can still see the little crochet 'pancake' little Lauras wearing for a hat ! I thought it was just so cute!

There was more crochet hats, but the pictures I took were particularly naff, so I thought it best to take some more another time.
Have you spotted any crochet on telly recently?

****
I spend a lot more time than I should on the computer.  (not alone there am I eh? ;)  )

I'm get in fed up with the little' computer corner' being a bit plastic-ee, so i thought I'd start cheering it up a bit. First I've made a little screen cosy...

Next, I made a little crochet flower with one of the doilies flower motif's that i'm still working on for a blanket.

This is going on the wall above the screen.

I used a little green button to hold down the stem, but i'm still un-decided whether or not to put a button in the centre of the flower too.

I think I'll make a few more and see what they look like with/without flowers.

Notice we have more photo's tonight?
I took all your advice, and now I set my photo's up in a blog post draught whenever I'm at the computer.
So goodness knows what the 'official' dates on my blog post are going to read Lol.

Have a great weekend everyone.
Stay warm (we still have NO boiler/heating they came out this afternoon to fix it, and couldn't as they didn't have the part on board, so hopefully they're coming back tomorrow!)

Take care,
Love Donna x

BLOGGER!! UURRGGGHHH...

Hello lovely people.
No pictures tonight as I said there would be yesterday :(

I started another post to finish off yesterday's one, and again blogger would only post one photo.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'll just have to keep trying at different times :)

Or maybe..

Blogger is trying to tell me not to make such long winded posts, and just keep them short and sweet with one picture!  :0]

Who knows..LOL

Anyway, hope you're all fine and dandy this evening.
Don't forget to pop back tomorrow if you've entered the giveaway ;)

Take care.

A bit of crochet and a bit of thrifting...

Hello lovely people :)

Hope this post finds you all well and happy.
Getting cold again isn't it? I don't mind as long as we get the snow too, otherwise I think it should be hot 'n' sunny!

Anyway, I digress....

First up, some thrifty finds..
This here is one gorgeous retro pillowcase that came in a set of two pillowcases, and a humungous sheet, all with this gorgeous pattern on them...

Call me strange, but I just love these colours and flowers and swirls..
(And I know I didn't bother to iron it before I took the photo...Sorry!)

Still not sure what to do with 'em though. Do I sell them 'as is'? Or chop 'em up?

They are in absolutely perfect condition. The colours are so bright and clear. I think they have just been stored forever, they're like unused.

(And don't say "Yeah, I bet they are!" Someone else out there must love them too! LOL)

Next up ..

No,
sorry,
there's no next up as blogger doesn't want to play.
Honestly, he always does it to just me I'm sure.. lol

I'll have to pop back again tomorrow with the rest :0)

Don't forget to enter my book giveaway if you haven't already. There's still two days left.

Take care,
Love Donna x

Thrifting, and meet Susan.....

Hello lovely people :0)

How kind of you to come and visit me in my new blog :)

I didn't feel like being 'Bizzydays' at the moment, so I thought I'd try and be a bit more thoughtful...hence the title..

Love ~ the love I have for my family, friends, and all around me..
Hope ~ for my eldest daughter to get her Epilepsy under control, and of getting our OWN house again (we're renting at the moment)
And last but not least ..
Craft ~ this keeps me sane (ish!). I would be lost without crochet, sewing, and 'crafty' thrifting ;)

I had a really nice comment from a lady called Debbie on my last post.
She's opened up a beautiful giveaway on her blog, and intends to blog other peoples giveaways this year, so pop over and take a look when you get a minute at Dreaming of a Country home   (aren't we all? :)

Anyway, just wanted to share a couple of things with you all..
First up ~ this is a little money box tin I thrifted the other day. I do so love the flower fairies, trouble is they seem to be everywhere sometimes, and I preferred the old days when stuff was harder to find..

Sweet isn't it?

Next up, I want you to meet Susan..

She was only 50p !
The children say she looks like an alien (can't see it myself), and my youngest daughter is begging me to let her draw a beautiful face on but, as I want her to be my model for the hats I am going to sell on Etsy (notice I said going to sell ;0)  )  I can't make up my mind whether to let her draw a face or not.

I also want her to work round my hats on when I'm sewing.

I've had items on Etsy for a few weeks now. I haven't sold anything yet, but when I look round on Etsy sometimes I just think " Well how could I even have listed my stuff on here when all these people are so professional!"
"Who's going to buy my stuff? "  lol
Do you ever all have negative thoughts going through your head when you look on there or Folksy?
But, I'm determined to keep at it, and try and list something everyday. But honestly, the place is HUGE, I didn't realise quite how big it was till I started listing there.

Anyway, that's my thoughts for today folks.
Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already.
I'm off now to try and figure out how to put links to articles on my blog in my side bars! LOL
That's quite an undertaking for me :)

Have a great day.
Take care,
love Donna x

Footy note :   OOOooo...See, I've done it! I managed to put a link on my blog for my giveaway LOL  :0)

Take care all of you   xxxx

Uh-oh......

So sorry, I forgot to post  the other pictures of the books last evening, so here they are this morning....

First up is the Felting book...

Yes, this fluffy pooch is in the book too! LOl

A felted cushion.

Well, this is a taster of what's in the felting book.
I was going to add a few more, but blogger is still being naughty,
so I'm going to go on to the 'Thrift' book now...

Hope you all like the what's in them :0)

Don't forget to leave a comment in the first 'giveaway' post to enter!

Have a great day everyone
Take care.

A Brand New Blog ......*...GIVEAWAY...* :0)

Hello Lovely people :0)

How are you all?
Hope this brand spanking, shiny new blog finds you all fine and dandy.

To start off my new blog, I'm having a giveaway.

Today is a always a sad day for me, it's the anniversary of my Dad's death.
It was quite a while ago now, but it doesn't ever go away does it? :(

Anyway, i thought if I can't be happy on this day, I'll make someone else happy:)
Good idea ..yes?

So I had a look at my book collection, and just as a little thankyou to all who read my blog (I don't think there are that many of you, so your chance of winning will be quite good LOL)
I thought I would give away a couple of the books that I no longer read/require.

They're both good books.

Here they are:

First one up is:
FABULOUS FELTED HAND-KNITS, by Jane Davies.

The second book is:

THRIFT  by Bridget Bodoano

Now Blogger isn't playing nicely, and won't let me upload any more photo's this evening, so I will have to put the rest of them on tomorrow night. :)

So, if your interested in winning one of these lovely books, just leave a comment on this blog saying which one you would like to win ...
FELT  or THRIFT.

It would be nice if you did a little link to this blog about the giveaway, but that is not at all essential to enter :0)

You CAN say both if you want to and you WILL be entered into both hats.
My hubby doesn't know it yet, but he will be drawing the winners from my fur hat on

20th January 2011.

So you have plenty of time to enter.

I'm just popping over to Bizzydays now to tell you all that I'm now over here :0)

Don't forget to leave me an email address if you don't have a blog so I can contact you if you win.

Good Luck Lovelies.
Take care.

I'll be back tomorrow with the rest of the pic's.
