Thursday Thrift

Hello lovely bloggers :o)
Hope this post finds you all fine and dandy this Wednesday evening!

Oh Lordy! I didn't think I was going to get on here this week! I've been trying to get stuff done left, right and centre, and I've had Mr LTS hogging the computer all week too, I've been having to say "Can I just get on there when you've finished doing that bit?"  Honestly, now I know how the children felt before they got their own laptops...Hmmmm, there's an idea! ;o)

Anyway, I'd best get on with showing you my favourite thrify find this week..
Lookee here...
I found this little beauty pushed to the back under the table in my local charity shop..

I pulled her out, and .......

Oh, she was all intact!    She had this horrible pink ribbon stuff around her middle, and I couldn't work out why until I removed it, and realised that she had a blue middle, so they'd put the ribbon on to hide the blue when they painted the top pink too!

She's a beauty though..  I just need to get the grubby pink off, and work out what to do on the top..

But just look at her fabulous fabric interior...
I keep having to look at how pretty it is!

I found some vintage cottons too, still boxed..

And I had to get this bias binding, I mean just look at the packaging!!

I had a few more finds, but as they're going in my Teapot Lane Emporium they will gradually be posted on my other blog too.

I've actually finished my knitted (cough) teapot cosy! Well, no actually that's a lie (LOL) I've finished the main body, I just need to decorate it now, so when I've done the decorating I shall post a show and tell :o)

Well, that's about it for me this morning. I hope you all have a great weekend. I shall be doing a snow dance or two as we have a few wintery showers on their way so they say, I don't mind if they just stop over my house :o)

Take care lovely people,

Todays the Day !

Evening lovely bloggers :o)
I hope this post finds you all fine and dandy, and you've all had some sunshine today :o)

The tomatoes that I planted up a few weeks ago are really flowering away now, all the sunshine we've had of late has really brought them along..

This is some of the plants from the outside of the conservatory looking in..yes that is me in the reflection lol... And these are the french beans in pots outside (with some tomatoes). But they don't seem to have grown hardly at all!

Here's my lovely peonies with one of the most gorgeous smelling roses with such a lovely scent!

My peonies were going over, so I thought it was time that I brought them in to enjoy!  Especially as 'Todays the Day!'

Yes, i'm 40 today!
I've had a up and down day. I received some of the most fantastic cards, best wishes and gifts, but also we've had a bit of a down as my eldest -who has epilepsy- has had a very nasty seizure and fall today, and has a really horrible head injury and a few others on her too :o(
So we've been nursing her today bless her.
But alls well that ends well. That's life, and i'm sure we'll have many more too.
I have to harden my heart to it a bit, otherwise it'd be breaking every day seeing her have seizures all the time.  Stiff upper lip and all that eh?  LOL.

Anyway, i bet you all want to know what was in that huge box that came back in March?
Well, it was this..

 Aren't I such a lucky girl?

I'm over the moon to have received such a lovely present! I haven't even tried it yet, but I will tomorrow when the children are at school!
I can't wait. The only thing that scares me is it's called a 'computerised' sewing machine. It has the 'c' word!  But the manual looks good, to I should be ok... LOL :o)

I received other amazing gifts too, like this most gorgeous vintage sewing box..
A new guard dog for by the front door....We have been walking past him for several weeks, and I jokingly named him (Spot) so I think my youngest daughter got attached to him and told Daddy they just had to buy him for me for *my* birthday as *I* must be attached to him 'cos I'd named him. LOl
Oh, bless her :o)
And I had this gorgeous vintage bottle to pop on my window..

With the most lovely crocheted flowers on..

It's so lovely. I love it :o)

I got so many lovely gifts and cards. I'll have to put extra photos on my next posts.

I'm getting a bit behind with my blog posts!
This post was supposed to be a sort of tutorial, and I've also been given a lovely award  from Little Blue Mouse which i need to tell you about!

And look what this fabulous person has written about me! Honestly, i couldn't believe it when i popped into lovely Jennies blog this afternoon!
I was actually gobsmacked (for a short while anyway ;o)
Such lovely things to have written about me.

Anyway, I'd better scoot off to bed now. We had quite a bad night last night, so I need to get my sleep tonight as soon as my eldest does, before she starts having her night seizures.

Have a lovely rest of the week all of you, and Thankyou so much to those lovely, lovely people who have emailed me and written on my last blog post to wish me a lovely birthday.  Honestly, I really do appreciate you and your kind wishes.  They really do mean alot to me :o)

Thankyou.

Take are all of you.

Phew...! Home at last..:0)

Well, hello lovely bloggers :0)

I hope you've all had a splendiferous, happy week :0)

The hospital stay is all over now. I can't say and done with, cos' we still have to moniter the medication, but at least her body didn't react to the new medication in a bad way (yet! ) I know, I know. I should be more positive, and I was quite positive 'till one consultant said to me " Well, you know how it is, we can't expect miracles!"
This is my daughters 14th anti-epileptic drug in nearly 6 years, and quite honestly with the side effects this drug carries, I don't think we would have tried it if the hospital hadn't been so confident it would help. So to hear him then say that, was a bit deflating to say the least :(

Still, we can only try  :0)

I managed to get quite a lot of crafting done during my stay which was the one bonus of being in hospital:0)
The downside was I put on one and a half pound during my few days which I'm a bit gutted about, as I've lost almost a stone since 3rd January, so I must work harder to make up for it!

This is what our room (well my side of the room!) looked like most of the time while we were there..

As well as this crafty stuff, I had several bags in the boot of the car! Unfortunately I know what hospitals are like, and I didn't want us to run out of things to do!
See my new wavy stripe crochet blanket in my basket? I bought the pattern from Lucy who has the most colourful blog you can imagine!
I'm making it candy colours as it's for my youngest daughter :0)

Now, see the 'check' blue and red thing in the lower middle of the picture? That's a new design I'm working on for my Etsy shop which I'll show you next week (I forgot to photograph it this morning!)
And what the blue/red thing is laying on is one of my new Needle cases that I have been beavering away on!
(I think that a certain Rosey person may like those! -'cept I know she doesn't sew! :0)
They will start going in my Etsy shop next week too, so I will show you the photo's when I've set them up!
(But if you look at the first photo of Souffle down below, you can see the top of my first needlecase -which is mine)
***
The photo below is of  'Souffle' the duck from the Popcorn range. D'you know him?
When I tell you the story of this duck, please don't leave me comments telling me what a mean Mother I am! I do feel really guilty if that helps!

This duck came in a kit that I bought from the home shopping channel QVC 5years ago. (almost exactly!) we got it to give to my youngest daughter on her 7th birthday in the middle of march 2006.
So, we gave her the kit, and I duly knitted the pieces of the duck. ( by duly, I mean it took me two years to finish knitting the bits)
Then, it has taken me a further THREE YEARS to make the feet, beak and little tag, stuff it, and sew it up!
I presented it to her at dinner last night!
She said 'At last!'

I know, that's really mean, especially as I spend most my evenings and nights crafting!
He was worth waiting for though yes?  LOL
Have any of you ever taken a long time to finish a crafty project?

Below is a picture of one of my daughters dinners that she had in hospital..
Just had to show you the food at Poole Hospital, as my daughter really likes it! We had a choice of two hospitals, and she chose that one to go into as she likes the food!
This meal was vegetable chow-mein, salad, orange juice, stewed apple and ice-cream!

****
A little while ago, I entered a pif with Clara.

Last week, i was lucky enough to recieve my gift of a beautiful sky blue crocheted scarf.
But not only did I receive my scarf, but she also sent me lots of extra little gifts which were so gorgeous!
I received fabrics, crochet patterns, lace, a beautiful chrysanth card.
And the most gorgeous scrummy buttons!
OOOooo look at that crochet goodness.....

Thankyou so much Clara for my beautiful goodies!
I so appreciate them, and they couldn't have arrived at a more timely moment to give me a lift :0)
I shall be forwarding the Pay-It-Forward goodness at the end of this month when I've decided exactly what to pay forward.
I have to pick three pif people, so when it comes up, don't forget to enter!

Well, that's it for now folks. I'll try and post more often so that my posts are shorter lol.
Thankyou all for reading to the end of this ramble.
And a big thankyou to all of you who've left your lovely supportive comments for me :0)
They do help tremendously you know.  Thankyou. :0)

Have a great weekend everyone.
Take care,
Love Donna xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
